The Este rulers of Ferrara enhanced the prestige of their city through the patronage of some of the most famous and innovative artists, scholars and musicians of their time.
Courtauld associate lecturer Dr Geoffrey Nuttall explores the cultural dynamic of the Ferrarese court, focusing on three of its most influential rulers, Lionello, Borso and Alfonso, and the works of art produced for them by Renaissance masters such as Pisanello, Cosimo Tura and Titian.
