Academy Award-winning actor Glenda Jackson returns to the stage to play King Lear in Deborah Warner’s production.

Jackson first came to prominence as a member of the RSC, where she developed a strong working relationship with pre-eminent British director Peter Brook. From there, she launched a big screen career, winning Oscars for Best Actress in Women in Love and A Touch of Class. After retiring from acting, she became a Labour MP, using her distinguished oratory to deliver some of the most memorable speeches in modern parliament. She stood down in 2015.

Here, she steps out of retirement to take the title role in one of Shakespeare’s finest plays, and arguably the greatest tragedy ever written: King Lear.
